LEGAL CLINICS

University of Milan Bicocca and Lav together for a project of legal clinics on the legal protection of animals.

A legal clinic was held at the University of Milan Bicocca in May and June 2022 concerning the protection of bears and related legal actions with the participation of members of the Lav (Massimo Vitturi responsible for the wild animal area, Simone Stefani Vice President Lav and Claudio Linzola of the Milan bar who assists Lav in some legal disputes on this issue) coordinated by Prof. Diana Cerini, full professor of Comparative Private Law at the University of Milan Bicocca.
The legal protection of animals is an increasingly topical issue, as the recent reform of Article 9 of the Constitution also demonstrates, and it is therefore the subject of in-depth study and research in the academic field. In the specific case, the protection of bears is an issue of significant importance that crosses European and national environmental issues as well as both civil and criminal aspects relating to the protection of animals.
On the occasion of the legal clinic, the students had the opportunity to approach the proposed topics playing an active role in the drafting of a procedural document focusing on the correct management of large carnivores for the purpose of complying with the special protection regulations in which the latter fall e deepening the many related aspects of law.

EUROPEAN ANIMAL RIGHTS LAW CONFERENCE
Professor Diana Cerini participated, in September 2022, in the “European Animal Rights Law Conference 2022 ” promoted by the Cambridge Center for Animal Rights Law with a related report of the status of the animal in the Italian legal system, also in the light of recent constitutional reforms.
